The Geomat Soil Stabilization Grid (Enkamat  7010) is an ideal turf reinforcement solution. Each 8 foot by 169 foot mat is made of continuous nylon filaments fused where they intersect. Being made of nylon eliminates the buoyancy factor associated with submerged conditions. It provides permanent turf reinforcement protection in vegetated channels, as well as on slopes.

This TRM promotes vegetative growth that is crucial for hillsides.  The mat is 95% open to leave room for soil, mulch, and root interaction.

EnkaMat Geomats Will Protect Landfill Slopes From Erosion

Nature has its own way of protecting landfill slopes from erosion it's called vegetation. Unfortunately, there are times nature needs help. It cannot combat all the forces that occur or if the vegetation has not developed to the level it can protect against soil damage. Runoff and soil loss on newly established sloping landfill can be easily washed away by heavy rainfall.  There must be an alternative to prevent this from happening. The answer is EnkaMat control mats. Over the years, millions of square feet of EnkaMat have been installed on dry slopes to offer permanent protection and advance the growth of vegetation.

In some cases adding a erosion control filter sock for slope interruption can be helpful.

What Is EnkaMat?

EnkaMat has a variety of three-dimensional erosion-protection mats made of durable polyamide monofilaments that are thermally fused together at the crossing threads. These filaments form an artificial root structure over 90% of void space.  The products are available in different thicknesses up to 20 millimeters. You can find the perfect mat for your project including the expected intensity of rainfall, how long a rain event is expected to last, the inevitable erosion level, slope length, and gradient. For quick installation, there are mats that come 3,85 meters wide.

How To Use EnkaMat To Prevent Erosion

Directly after installing the mats the surface of the soil will be protected from erosion from rainwater and wind. EnkaMat also encourages the development of vegetation under conditions that are usually very difficult to deal with. EnkaMat will permanently reinforce vegetation on landfill slopes whether seeded, filled with topsoil, or mulched. EnkaMat can be easily pinned in place so they can remain unfilled at times. To ensure close contact with soil but the mat should be pinned at regular intervals. These mats are maintenance-free. Due to the high-quality polyamide, they will keep on protecting for a long time to come.

Note: If your project calls for a temporary erosion control mat we also have a coconut mat that typically lasts around 3 years.
