The Advantages Of Ground Mats For Vehicle Traction & Ground Protection
Ground Surface - These mats are designed for ground protection without any preparation over grass, concrete, asphalt, gravel, soil, and sandy soils.
Little to no groundwork is required for the installation of ground protection mats but the ground should be somewhat level and all large rocks should be removed from the area. Ground mats can be used on mud, grass, sand, and other surface but weight load capacities will be reduced on softer surfaces. Geotextiles are an option for very soft surfaces to help distribute weight and additional support and weight loading. Ground mats should not be used as bridging material or used to cross or span large gaps, gullies, or chasms.
Weight Loading - This can vary depending on the sub-surface up to an 80-ton capacity on solid flat surfaces.
Track Equipment
Most ground protection mats will withstand the movement of track equipment even if there is a possibility of scratching or nicks. These incidences should not affect the lifespan of the mats or lessen their performance.
Show caution when dealing with very rough terrain when running heaving equipment on the mats. Slow and even equipment torque should be applied in these conditions
Always get the performance specs and recommended load limits before choosing the ground protection to keep your equipment and workers safe.If you will have a very large, heavy telescoping crane, you need to have the specified safety requirements for ground protection.
